It is time to pre-order your Gettysburg guidebook on Amazon

If you are an American history lover who can imagine the fun of outdoor learning -- on a bike -- then Bicycling Gettysburg National Military Park (paid link) is for you. It's time to start planning your 2019 vacation to Gettysburg, or maybe simply dreaming about the experience with this book on your lap. Amazon and other online retailers are currently accepting pre-orders for publication in March 2019. I am excited that gave the guidebook a #1 New Release badge in two book categories, which I hope means that it is starting to sell.

Not a bicyclist? Not a problem! I wrote this book for visual learners who want a guidebook that focuses on broad historical themes and human interest stories.  The book presents a history of the Battle of Gettysburg from the unique perspective of a cyclist, who is constantly scanning the park for landmarks to stay oriented. For recreational and experienced bicyclists, the book solves the puzzle of planning a trip.

What puzzle? You'd think it would be as simple as picking up an official park map and riding the battlefield. But no. Gettysburg National Military Park has over 30 miles of (smoothly paved) park roads over more than 6,000 acres of land. Auto tours do not work well for bicyclists for many, many reasons. Since most bicyclists want to begin and end at the same location, avoid town roads (where possible), and visit a representative sampling of monuments (there are over 1,300 monuments and markers in Gettysburg), a bicycling guidebook is essential.

Bicycling Gettysburg National Military Park is your one-and-only guidebook for a fun, safe, and educational tour on a bike. I know it sounds like a bold claim. But it's the only book on the market that is specifically written for bicyclists.
